In week three of the 2019 indoor season, both the Boys & Girls teams travelled to Horton Fieldhouse on the campus of Illinois State University for 2019 U-High Indoor Invitational. 48 teams made for a long day, but once again, the Redskins showed they could be one a dark horse in IHSA competition as the season progresses.
For the girls, senior Gina Misek had another great day, finishing third in the long jump fourth in the 200M Run, and 7th in the 60M Dash, Freshman Alexis Johnson finished thirteenth in the 200M Run.
The 4x200M relay team consisting of Misek, Johnson, Alexis Smyk, and Kyla Kjellesvick finished eighth overall and the 4x400M relay team of Bridget Landers, Teagan Sandvick, Abby Cunningham, and Olivia Mettille placed eleventh.
On the boys side, the line up was jostled around a bit from last week, but again we saw great efforts. Senior Captain, Austin Hatcher had another big day, finishing third overall in the shot put, seventh in the 60M Hurdles, & eleventh in the 60M dash. Alejandro Ochoa and Nic Davy, both seniors, finished first and second overall in the 200M Run, while Ochoa also took second in the 400M Run. Dan Grant (Jr) notched third overall in the Pole Vault, Jase Cole (Sr) took fourth in the 400M Run, and senior Ryan Lain took sixth overall in the high jump. Davy also placed twelfth overall in the long jump and sophomore Caleb Holliday took thirteenth overall in the high jump.
The 4x200M relay of Hatcher, Ochoa, Cole, & Davy also placed second overall, besting their own record time that they set last week.
Both teams travel once again this weekend. They attend the Reed-Custer Invite at Reed-Custer High School on Saturday.
