MCHS Track Coaches
Head Men's & Women's Coach: Ryan Battersby
Coach Battersby is entering his fourth year as the head men's track coach at Morris Community High School and has 13 years of Track and Field coaching experience. A 1999 MCHS graduate, Battersby was a 3-time All-conference Track and Field Athlete in the 100 meter dash and 4x200 relay. He was also All-conference his senior year in Football as a defensive back. Battersby graduated from Illinois State University and currently teaches Special Education at MCHS. Coach Battersby is our boys and girls sprints/relays coach.
Pole Vault Coach: Brian Claypool
A 1995 graduate of MCHS, Coach Claypool was an outstanding three sport athlete for the Redskins, lettering in football, wrestling, & track. Brian was a 1994 State Qualifier in Pole Vault and went on to compete at the collegiate level. Coach Claypool graduated from Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois. He will work with our pole vaulters once again this season and is in his fourth year with the Morris track program.
Throws Coach: Brian Kasher
Coach Kasher is a graduate of Reed-Custer High School and is currently employed as a law enforcement officer in Channahon, Illinois. Brian was an outstanding shot and discus thrower and football player for Reed-Custer. Coach Kasher will be entering his fourth year with the MCHS throwers this season. Brian also serves as well as an assistant football coach for the Morris Redskins.
Horizontal Jumps/Hurdles Coach: Rebecca McKee
Coach McKee enters her second year as a coach for the Redskins, Rebecca returned to her alma mater after a successful career as sprinter and jumper on the track team at Division II McKendree University. Rebecca ranks among the top triple jumpers and sprinters is Lady Redskins history. Coach McKee currently works as a rehab technician and personal trainer. Coach McKee is the horizontal jumps and hurdle coach.
Throws Coach: Adrianne McKerrow
Quite possibly the most decorated female athlete in the history of Morris Community High School, we are beyond honored to have Coach McKerrow join the track coaching staff for 2020. Adrianne is a five time state champion in track & field winning three state championships in shot put and two state championships in discus. Coach McKerrow was also a four time letter winner in basketball, & earned three letters in volleyball. She currently serves as the assistant principal at Minooka Junior High School and we are excited for her to work with our throwers (obviously) this year.

Distance Coach: Nick Murphy
High Jump/Sprints: Dave Auwerda
Working with the MCHS High Jumpers and assisting sprinters this season is Coach Auwerda, who is in his 27th year as a teacher, and his third as a coach in the track program. Coach Auwerda graduated from Hampshire High School and then attended Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois, where he was a member of the football and track programs. He landed at MCHS in 1993 and has coached in the football, baseball, and wrestling programs and currently serves as a volunteer assistant soccer coach. Coach Auwerda has also coached with the Chicago Blitz professional indoor football team.
